Get Intimate with the Queen City Of the South

Ziplining In Cebu City

We visited the Doce Pares Ziplining facility in Baranggay Busay last Sunday. The place is (according to the tarp at the gate) the First Zip Line Ride in Cebu. If you can remember, I already featured a zipline facility in this blog a few months ago (the one in Hidden Paradise Mountain Resort in San Fernando.) But technically, San Fernando is not in Cebu City. So I guess the one in San Fernando is the first zipline facility in the province while this one is the first in the city. Correct me if I’m wrong. Hehe.

Anyways, the place is only around thirty minutes from JY Square in Lahug. You can get there via habal2x or taxi. Entrance fee is twenty Pesos per head. I’m not sure how much they collect for young kids, though. Anyways, if you want to zipline, you only have to pay a hundred (up/down).

We saw this guy ziplining when we arrived. He looks like he’s having a swell time!

That road going up will take you to Top Garden. So, since you’re ziplining, you wouldn’t want to go there. Hahaha. You see that small street sign (red arrow) near the head of that woman on the bike? That’s where you’re going. Hehe.

The Welcome to Busay sign. The gate is on the other side of the road.

Welcome tarp.

Entrance Fee – Php20 per person.

A huge group and their habal2x rides.

A short drive to the main view deck and launch towers.

A very cute grotto. Hehe.

A small videoke kiosk.

Zip line entrance!

You can also get a shirt for 150 pesos.

View of the northern launch/landing tower.

Closer look.

There’s that dude taking off from the southern tower.

There he goes!

A bamboo bridge. Reminds me of Bindoy. Hehehe.

And this one is a bit tricky. Jump to the next picture to find out why.

Now can you handle that? Can you get to the other side without kissing the ground below? Hahaha.

Anyways, before you ask why they have this kind of bridge, I believe this is for some sort of training. You see, Doce Pares is (according to Wiki)

a Filipino martial art that focuses on two stick fighting and later adopted the Balintawak style method of one stick fighting. Magellan’s sword-wielding conquistadors fell to Datu Lapu-Lapu who used Eskrima to defeat the Spaniards at the Battle of Mactan. Doce Pares claims to trace its history to Lapu-Lapu although he used only one sword which can be seen in his statue.

So there.

Another shot of the northern landing/launch tower.

Kids playing with the ropes.

A tent. I think you’re allowed to pitch tents here.

Motorcycle parking area. Plenty of space.

Vehicle parking area.

A small multi-story cafe. Nice.

Kape Igso. Cool! Your igso is the son or daughter of your godmother/godfather.

Second floor of the cafe.

Gorgeous view of Cebu City. Wow!

On the other side, view of baranggay Malubog. Nice!

this is fun and exciting to those ‘dare devilish’ pipol, but scary to acrophobic.

abi naku kanang word ‘igso’ is a moro term. pareho aning mga antique joke sa mga moro ‘ igso, palit ka og kibido, garantisado, dili mabuak bisan imo hulogan og dako nga bato basta dili lang maigo’. .hehehehe

This is not for me, I’m afraid of height, let alone slide from one end to the other. LOL. Otherwise, it’s a nice place.

My late dad was taught by Anciong, the Grandmaster of Arnis. Now my brother John is the GM of the Villasin Balintawak Arnis Club. :-)

  13. hoz February 8, 2010 at 11:55 pm

Like everything in the Philippines this looks like “buyer beware”. You pay your money and take your chances…

  14. hoz February 8, 2010 at 11:58 pm

Looks like the Habalx2 drivers will be making some extra money from the fares to this attraction. Wonder how much the fare from JY Square to the Zipline?

  44. nuelene August 16, 2011 at 1:43 am

wow! your blog is so cool. i’m in cebu to study for six months so i think i might as well as make the most of my stay here. :) just want to ask, can i walk from the entrance? haha.
i’m not really fond of riding a habal2x.

  45. rhea August 19, 2011 at 1:57 pm

zip lines in Davao, Bukidnon and even Butuan City are better. they have longer/higher ziplines but safer with quality steel towers/cables and are well developed sites every adventure-seeker couldn’t afford to miss :) this one has a good view of the City though. :)
