While waiting to go up to our room, we sat in the waiting area. The lady near us was smoking like a chimney.
You can see plenty of hotel slippers at the entrance. These are for guests to use while at the inn. But by the next morning, all the slippers are gone. In place of them are the guests’ shoes. – Goyokan, Shuzenji, Izu Peninsula, Japan

Hey Satch, you are so lucky!!! What a beautiful trip!!!
To Gail, thanks for sharing your photos and for the detailed captions of your travel photos. I really enjoyed this adventure. We’ve been to Japan in Tokyo and in Kyoto and as much as we love those trips, we still long to visit the old Japan… to go to a Rayukan somewhere in the countryside of Japan and I’m glad that you covered that as well in your trip.
This is really an authentic Japanese experience.
