Ludy and I reached the Cebu South Bus Terminal at around 5:00 pm. The terminal was in total chaos as first-time travelers couldn’t find their way around and terminal regulars were so loud and busy complaining about the new ticketing system. LOL.
Our bus left the terminal at six. The bus was filled to the rafters and I had to bend, twist, and wiggle just to keep an old man who was standing beside my seat from sitting on my face. LOL. But that didn’t prevent me from dozing off. Before the bus even reached Carcar, I was already dreaming of chicken lollipops and spaghetti. Hahaha. I woke up when the bus was already in Malabuyoc. Strangely, the old man was still standing there, his butt still just a few inches from my forehead. Whatever happened from the time I closed my eyes til the time I woke up, I don’t want to know. Hahaha.
We reached Irene’s house in Tangbo, Samboan at 10:30 in the evening. The trip was so tiring. And as expected, I almost puked. Twice. Hahaha. ‘I’ll definitely go ballistic if this trip doesn’t turn out to be post-worthy,’ I told myself as I got off the bus. LOL.
Ginatilan’s hidden treasure. Inambakan Falls in Calabawan. Just awesome!

The entire household was up early the next day for Aiz and his granddad’s double birthday celebration. Here’s Wendy’s husband preparing the paklay.

Coconut meat sun-dried by the road.

The ancestral home of Irene’s family. Looking really quaint.

Boat! With a view of the island of Negros.

Alone again, naturally. Hahaha.

Rocky beach. But still very nice.

Jet!

We traveled to Ginatilan (the next municipality) to check out the Inambakan Falls. I saw the sign the previous night and I told them about it. By the way, we saw this eGwen poster near the town church. Hehehe.

Wow. Very nice and clean. I love Ginatilan.

The sign that I saw the previous night. Inambakan Falls in Calabawan, Ginatilan. 3.9 Kms away!

The road to the falls is quite dangerous and tricky. If you’re not an experienced driver, please let someone else drive. We made a few stops because our service vehicle (a multicab) could not take our weight (There were 15 of us. Hahahaha.) Eventually, the multicab had to turn back and only 6 of us went to the falls.

Start of the 5-minute trek to the falls.

Wow! I can see the river! I’m quite excited.

That young girl is a local tour guide. She agreed to take us to the falls for a small fee.

Casualty! The same thing happened to my slippers when we went to Aguinid Falls about two years ago, So sad.

Tiniil! Hahaha.

Wow! I can see it!

Inambakan Falls. Doesn’t it look gorgeous?

Wow! Don’t you just want to jump in?

Irene and Wendy checking out Inambakan.

Ryan couldn’t wait to jump in. LOL.

Milay, Wendy, Irene, and Ludy. Para ingnon turista. Hahaha.

Ryan enjoying the water.

For those who don’t know how to swim, this part is perfect for you. LOL.

Fun! We’re actually standing on huge rocks. Hahaha.

View of the river below the falls.

Fresh and clean water.

Wow. I really liked this part. This place is also perfect for young kids.

I think this is how the falls got it’s name. To ambak means to leap/jump/dive.

I sense a belly-flop! Hahaha.

He looks like he’s having a lot of fun. If only I could swim. Hahaha.

This guy is sad and lonely. Hehehe.

And he picked the perfect spot to think about his worries. Hahaha.

We found a transparent bra strap for my slipper. Hahaha. Thanks Wendy! Hahaha.

Leaving Inambakan. I shall return, don’t worry!

Wow. The view is just breath-taking.

Lovely sight.

A coprasan.

Coconut meat being ‘cooked’.

We walked for 500 meters before we found a habal-habal. The habal-habal took us to the poblacion for 20 pesos each.

Then, we got on a tricycle to get to Samboan for 15 pesos each.

Back at the house, people were already eating. What? No more kubal?!?!!? Hahahaha.

South National Road.

It was once again a very nice trip. And definitely post-worthy! Big thanks to the Olores Family! Happy birthday Aiz and your grandpop who was so accommodating and nice. And thanks to Ryan, Irene, her grandma, her mom, her sisters, and everyone who made the trip fun and very memorable.

So much for expensive and imported slippers… Hahaha! I think a pair of Islander slippers would have had more luck surviving.

Hi Lan! I talked to one of our eGWEN program coordinators about the trip and he mentioned that the newly developed road to Inambakan Falls is actually a development initiative of the LGU of Ginatilan, and more development may be expected. For those who are wondering, eGWEN My Cebu program is Expanded Green and Wholesome Environment that Nurtures, a 5-year implementation project of the Provincial Government and the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. which aims to make Cebu a “more livable place to live, work, play and do business in”, wherein different projects such as preserving and promoting natural heritage are being implemented by municipalities all over Cebu. With this admirable beauty, hopefully more Cebuanos grow interest and involvement in keeping treasures in their very own communities alive, as Inambakan Falls is to Ginatilan!
nindot dyud ang Ginatilan, I missed those days mag pahuway diha likod sa munisipyo silong sa dakong kahoy, hayahay kaayo, naa pod kan anan diha sa merkado, Jerry’s Carenderia, lami kaayo, inato kaayo ba….. about eGwen program, I like the concept of preserving the environment and promoting natural heritage, pero ngano epoliticize man dyud ni GG uy, ipa patik dyud iyang ngalan. . . . thanks for the pics ley . . .
Pagkaluoy sa inasal.

Looks like a really exciting trip with a fun group to a beautiful place! I love the rustic beauty of the area. Hopefully, they don’t ruin it with ‘development’ like they’ve done to Kawasan.
Ley, are the headwaters accessible/close to the waterfalls?
i like the pics. i like the traveling u guys did. i’m a pure cebuana but i still have a of traveling south to do. honestly, i am scared of driving or riding in a vehicle to the south. i heard a lot of stories of vehicular accidents. farthest i went was in santander for their sanayon fiesta and then on i know i am missing a LOT!!! thanks for this website, i get to nourish my inner traveler. live vicariously for me please. travel more and show me more of your adventures. Salamat kaayo!!!
