Cordova (Second Time Around)

23 09 2009

I was driving around Mandaue last Monday afternoon when I thought about going to Mactan Island. After a full hour of driving and finding nothing (free) to shoot, I decided to drive all the way to Cordova to see how things are in Buagsong. I’ve been to Buagsong about a year ago, if you remember. I tried their famous ‘Bakasi’ dish, which, let’s just say, I didn’t quite fancy. Hehehe. A lot of people travel to Cordova just for that dish. So I know that that dish is really delicious. Anyways, during this particular visit, I stayed away from the restaurant and just focused on the things to shoot. Hehehe. Here are the photos. As always, I hope you enjoy them.

Buagsong, Cordova. Simply beautiful.

Red crabs. These little things come out when you’re not looking.

A lonely bird. I bet he’s just tired of worms and stuff.

Fishing boats docked for the night. What a lovely view.

More colorful boats.

Low tide. According to one boy, when the tide is high, only the tip of the plants can be seen.

Nice road. And very clean.

All of a sudden, these two boys appeared. I like this shot.

Young girls playing near the water.

Here are some shots of Cebu mainland – which the locals refer to as ‘Pikas Isla’.

The iconic Waterfront Hotel in Lahug and the 5 ladies of Nivel Hills.

The Fuente cluster and the Windland towers.

By the way, after this shoot, something happened to my camera. It just suddenly stopped working. Upon closer inspection, I learned that it was due to the power switch. It got kinda loose so it wouldn’t stay ‘on’ or ‘off’ for a long time. This happened once before but the problem just ‘disappeared’. And now, it decided to come back. Hehehehe. My guess is that it was due to frequent use. LOL.

I went to a local camera repair shop last night and the guy at the counter said that my choice was either to send my camera to Manila or have it repaired here for a few thousand bucks.

So, I’ll just stop posting for a couple of days or week until the camera is fixed. Don’t worry, I’ll still be updating the site using my phone camera (not the same picture quality, though).

See you, guys! :)

Yes, Cordova! That’s is where you will find the lot of Goyo! Perhaps someday I will even get to build my house on it. :-D

Being emersed in city life for so long, it’s refreshing to see these pictures. It’s been a while since I’ve seen an agukoy. Ha..ha.. it was fun watching them dive into their shelters when feeling threatened.
