Taho!

One of the most popular snacks in Cebu (and the entire country) is Taho. Taho is a ’street food’ which is made with bean curd, tapioca balls, and sweet ’sauce’ made from liquefied sugar. Taho is best eaten warm. For this reason, it is usually sold in the early morning.

How do you recognize a Taho vendor? Pretty easy, actually. If you see a man walking down the street carrying two stainless vats attached to a wooden rod and shouting ‘Tahhhhooooo!,’ then, you got your man!  Hehe.

You can buy a small glass of Taho for only 3 pesos. A big glass costs 5 pesos.

i love tofu and kinaham intawn ko pud nang taho dong ley. lami na healthy pa. my first encounter with it was in fort bonifacio about 20 yrs ago. hangol kaayo akong mga pag-umangkon ana and mag-atang gyud intawn every morning bitbit ilang cups sa gawas sa compound and yes cute kaayo kay magkamuritsing lagi!
naay agid-agid ana diri sa japan pero eaten cold and not as “oishii”

i wonder if tahoo taste like tofu….. i love tofu coz’ i’m semi-vegetarian and use it for almost every food i make though i eat chicken occasionally but rarely….

taho is made of fresh soft/silken tofu (plus the arnibal and sago)or in japanese, kinudofu. tasteless sans the caramel/sauce/dressing but healthy…

I believe Taho is Tofu in the making. The Taho I have eaten is slightly softer and not as dry.

heheh actually.. Taho is my favourite street food/snack. hmmm kuan sd kanang tempura pd.. favourite sd na nako.

i first tasted taho in grade 6…and that was the last time, as well. Nagkalibanga man gud ko after. Can’t think any culprit but ‘it’.

Hi! I’m wondering if you could also do one about siomai since you did it already for taho. I was just amazed to see Siomai sa Tisa…Balamban branch!!! I guess it’s everywhere now. My mom asked the one who’s selling at Fuente and she said that they sell over 3,000 siomai/day.

And I love taho. Thanks for featuring this one!

When I was in manila i eat taho every morning but here sa bukid. tinoghong ra jud tawon kada buntag ang mada-og da-og.
