The Cebu Dancesport Team is vying for the World Guinness Book record as the Largest Dance School in the World. The original plan was to have 4000 pairs (a total of 8000 participants.) Last Saturday, 7,770 participants showed up at Cebu City Sports Center. Not bad, ei? I heard that the previous record was only around 2k. We’re still waiting for news from Guinness officials. But I’m confident that the record is now ours! Nyahahaha! (not an evil laugh)
Here’s a video of the event.
Also, Cebuanos once again stole the scene a few days ago when CNN covered the live presentation of the dancing inmates at the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center. The routine, which was put together just ten hours after news of Michael’s death, was the prison system’s tribute to the King of Pop. The presentation got a very juicy exposure as CNN aired the routine a couple of times during the day reports of the presentation came out.
Here’s a copy of the CNN report.
Here’s the clip of the routine posted by byronfgarcia.
As of June 28, the clip was CNN’s second most viewed story.

Wished to have gotten to see more videos and photos of the event! It’s really amazing. We had a number of similar feats here in Singapore and it’s also a good laugh when a record has been beaten. Only with the support and participation of all (combined services) along with the organizers can such a feat be carried out. Best wishes – Singapore Photographers
