Your exactly right and this started during the administration of Mayor Bebs Pepito that he converted the park to a Municipal High School. And later on they closed the road on the right side leading to the Municipal Hall to accomodate the new 3 stories building. So, at this point the view of the pak and plaza was completely gone and still they spend their budget that was allocated for park and plaza that doesnt exist anymore. Well, i also beleived that they approved more variances in thier time which does not conform with the zoning ordinance that they themselves passed. I hope that in the future that the new set of officials is already planning to move the municipal hall on the new site in cansaga bay. They should make a comprehensive plan that includes open space for the kids to play and i this way they can have a good park and plaza later on that will add the beauty of the new hall. In this way the old complex will be later on be converted to a public libray on the ground floor and in the upper floor will the hall of justice (Municipal Court). Thanks a lot for having an opening discussion for Consolacion at least with your greivances on our town will open their eyes how to conserve the beauty that exist when you were a kid. Again sorry to hear your dissapointment and We do hope that new nice pictures of consolacion can be uploaded since the old view no longer exists. Thanks and have a good one.

The big old stone house you were mentioning about is indeed the convent of the parish. The ground floor served as the parking space of the priest's car and also the office of the parish.

Leading to the second floor are two old but polished flights of stairs. One could also see stained glass windows at the landing. my friend and I sneaked into the convent's second floor and saw four relatively old paintings. Much of the spaces in the old convent are no longer used. But I have to say that it's really huge.

This is great indeed and kudos to the townleaders of Sibonga to preserve the park and spaciousness.
I get jealous and disheartened when I see nice preserved places like this in Cebu and while my Consolacion has gotten very chaotic. When I was growing up in Lacion, there was a nice open space fronting the municipal hall which is up on a hill while you can see clearly the San Narciso church on the side of that "park like" space. There used to be a few swings in that space, some townmates used to play tennis in an open court or play volleyball; we learned to ride bikes in that space without the danger of doing it in the actual road. It had a great potential to be a real park since pine trees lined the other side of that space and would have preserved the view of the town hall up the hill with its terraced landscaping, the Lourdes grotto on the side as well as the church grounds. Since then they tucked the High School in that space, you can now barely see the town hall from the road and the spaciousness of the church plaza is gone. I visited from the US a few years back and had a mass for my departed parents in the church and the noise from the disco music of an activity from the HS made it impossible to hear the priest. It is such a shame and very disappointing to me. I wish I have the money to bring back that picture in my mind that I had when I was a child. It was certainly poor planning on how things should have been located. I hope it will be a lesson on how zoning and planning should be done for future projects.
