Here it is folks! Satchmo’s stop in Sacramento, California with the awesome hosts Mr. and Mrs. Goyo. satchGoyo – if you don’t already know – is also a travel and photo blogger. His awesome travel / photo blog talks about Cebu and its people. He also has a travel and photo blog about his beloved Sacramento. Click here and here to visit his travel and photo blogs. He’s also a regular reader so that’s actually how he became one of the host.

Anyways, Goyo – his real name is Greg. hehehe – and his wonderful wife Mrs. Goyo,  gave Satchmo a really good time. Here are some of the photos they took with some really witty ‘captions’ from Sir Goyo. You’ll learn a lot from this trip. Hehehehe.

Wow!  Look at all these grapes.  We can make a lot of wine with these.  Gihigugma ko vino!

Now, here’s Satchmo with Mrs. Goyo

And now with Goyo.

Satchmo at the Capitol Building, Sacramento the Capitol of California

The traditional gateway into Sacramento.

The entrance to Arnold’s office

We’re inside!  Satchmo sitting on the desk of Arnold’s secretary.  You can barely see him though.

Capitol Building, Sacramento the Capitol of California

Satchmo sitting on a statue of Queen Isabela of Spain and Christopher Columbus in the rotunda of the Capitol Building.  Again, you can barely see him.

This is where Mrs. Goyo works.  Along with many other Pinoy/Pinay.

Mrs. Goyo and some of her co-workers. The following are all left to right. Back row:  Jun (Ilocos) & Annabel (Talisay, Cebu) Middle row: Agnes (Ilocos) & Rosemarie  (CDO) Front row:  Angel, Mary Rose (Manila & mother of the duha bata here), Adelai, Mrs. Goyo (Cebu City), Suzanne (Manila)

The inside of the ball park and when the River Cats took the field.

This is the entrance to the arena complex.  Both the Sacramento Kings of the NBA and the Sacramento Monarchs, the 2005 Champions of the WNBA, use the arena.  As well as concerts and other events.

Satchmo and Arco Arena

These two ladies are sales reps for Beazer Homes in Sacramento.  They have a development just north of the downtown. They are, left to right, Shaunda and Christine. Thanks guys! :)

2nd Street in Old Sacramento State Historic Park. For more info on the area see Sacramento With Goyo.

With a US style tartanilla

Looking down K Street, Ziggarut building in background is across the river in West Sacramento

There was a lady passing out these US flag decals since this is July 4th, Independence Day.  She was insistent that the flag be in one of the fotos with Satchmo.  So that she would leave me alone I took one.  LOL

A historical landmark in Sacramento.  The first settlement by a European other than Spanish.  This was the beginning of Sacramento.  More info at Sacramento With Goyo

The Tsongas Arena

Turn right at the sign driver.  We’re going to the world famous Napa Valley, home of some of the world’s best wineries.

Outside the Robert Mondavi Winery.  Unfortunately, this one and many others were closed for private parties celebrating the 4th of July weekend.

Hey look another cow.  My American cousin.  What’s up Bro?  Awww, it’s only a wooden sign.

Mrs. Goyo then Goyo outside Beaulieu Vineyards.  Most people just call it BV though.  Even their bottles say BV.

While we were still at BV.  “Hey, Tito Goyo, that signs says tasting room.  Can we?  Huh?  Can we?  Palihug tito.” Yay!.  Vino.  Gighigugma ko vino.  Hey wine man, sige pa!  Sige pa!

Mr & Mrs Goyo

At CIA headquarters.  Haha.  CIA.  Culinary Institute of America.  Probably the most famous cooking school in America.  This is their Napa Valley branch.  The main one is in New York City I think.

Looks like the south of France but it’s really the Napa Valley

Statue in the park commemorating the flag waving that started the Republic of California. Yes, California declared it’s independence from Mexico and tried to be it’s own country before finally joining the US.

Sonoma State Historic Park

Where else do you take a cow?  To a cheese factory of course.  Sonoma Jack cheese is very well known but they have a lot more inside.  They even have a habanero pepper jack cheese that will set your mouth on fire.  Jack cheese with bits of habanero in it.

Mrs. Goyo looks at some cheeses.

Finally a dairy farm with real cows.  Hey, Bro!  These are my American cousins.  Aren’t they cute.  Whew!  I’ll tell you one thing, they sure stink!  Uy Hala!  Baho kaayo!

Hey, another cow!  Hey Bro, what’s up?  Oh no, it’s just a statue!

Humana with our tour of Napa and Sonoma we head home via the Interstate 80  freeway.  As we near the city of Fairfield I hear this frantic voice from the car.  “Orong, orong sa kotse!  Driver, para, para!  Lugar, lugar!”  “Why what’s up Satch?”.  Look over there.  It’s the Budweiser factory”.  “Satchmo, remember you were already hubog on vino today”.  “No, no, Tito Goyo!  Serbesa.  Gusto ko inum serbesa palihug”.  “Well, I guess you don’t get to come to America too often, so ok”.   “Oh salamat to.  Salamat, salamat, daghang kaayong salamat”.

@Ley – one of your photos here, The Tsongas Arena, is actually one of Satch’s stops here in Lowell, MA. This is part of the 2nd set of MA photos I sent you.

Next time, be our special guests on the 1st Sunday in June when we hold our annual Filipino Fiesta where everything Pinoy – song and music, costume, folkdance, food, halo-halo (yours truly), etc. – is celebrated. For a day, Philippines and Filipinos in Sacramento! You’ll have fun! Mabuhay!
