Frank Hits Cebu
Frank hit Cebu last Friday. Although it wasn’t as strong as Ruping, it did leave some serious damages
particularly in the Visayas. MV Princess of the Stars, the largest passenger ship in the Philippines bound for Cebu from Manila, capsized because of the typhoon.
In Cebu, the storm hit Friday night and ‘disappeared’ early Saturday morning. However, strong winds ‘came back’ just after lunch time. The strong winds continued to hit Cebu until Sunday night.
Here are some shots I took last Saturday. It stopped raining but the wind was so strong that a few neighbors had to put some used tires on their roof to keep the sheets in place.
‘Soft trees’ like the Biyatilis and Kalamunggay were the usual casualties.

Of course Pinoys can take advantage of almost all kinds of ‘ugly situations’. My aunt getting some ‘kalamunggay’ to make Utan Binisaya. LOL

Only the wires kept this light in place.

=========================
At the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, I only saw a couple of foreign visitors. The basilica is usually filled with Koreans on Saturdays. The number of local visitors, however, doubled.

Cebuanos consider the Sto. Niño their protector.

We continue to pray for the passengers of the capsized ferry who, as of this moment, have not been rescued yet.

when BBC featured the sunken MV Princes only i saw her bow above water level-it was indeed a very sad and so tragic . .That Sibuyan/Roblon strait is really treacherous-even in good weather the water is never calm, big waves and ship always sways when passing this place.

Bitaw, we should go to the Sto Nino for everything…be it for help when in need, or giving thanks for every little thing we take for granted.
