Satchmo World Tour?
Satchmo was a gift from a friend who went to Manila to attend a JPMAP Conference. She said she bought the cow – originally a pencil holder – for only Php20.

See his PHOTOS HERE
When I got my hands on a cheap Kodak camera, I started taking pictures of virtually anything. Then, I saw the movie AMELIE where the lead character stole her father’s garden gnome, gave it to her flight stewardess friend, and asked her friend to take pictures of the gnome in famous landmarks all over the world. Then, I saw an online ad of a traveling agency which used a gnome as its ‘model’.
I thought that since I didn’t want to take pictures of myself, I might as well use a ‘model’. So, I thought about using the ‘cow’. I asked my friend Yum about a possible name and she suggested Satchmo – jazz legend Louis Armstrong’s very own nickname (Yum loves Louis).
That very moment, Satchmo became Leylander’s official blogging partner. LOL.
So, when mam Jenny suggested that I let Satchmo take the WORLD TOUR that everyone’s been very excited about, I had second thoughts. What if Satchmo gets lost in transit? What if the ‘host’ decides to lose him intentionally? What if the host’s kid decides to burn Satchmo? LOL.
Funny, but these questions really came to me. I asked my Davaoeño blogger friend Ram and he said that it all boils down to two words – trust and risk. True, Satchmo is irreplaceable. A huge part, in fact half of it, of MCPB would die if Satchmo disappears. I mean, Im not trying to be freaky here but he’s been through a lot. And people have learned to love him (I think. HAHAHAHA). It’s not easy to find another ‘model’ and have a really weird ‘bond’ with it. So, I hope you all now know what I really feel and think about this.
But, you know what, I’ve decided to take that chance and just see if it works. It would be awesome to see Satchmo in Staten Island, or the Sydney Opera House, or the London Bridge! Hahahaha. That would be like really crazy! Hehehe.
So, for those of you who want to be part of this project, I made some simple guidelines (thanks NanaYanna for this idea).
-
Mam Jenny would be the first host since she’s on her way to the PI as we ’speak’. So, we’re going to have the AMERICAN LEG first. This means that willing hosts in Canada, Australia, Japan or London would have to wait (kahilas ni Satchmo. Hahahaha).
-
All USA-based readers of MCPB are free to join. We’ll probably accommodate as many hosts as possible (as if daghan. LOL) but we have to make sure that Satchmo returns to Cebu before this year ends.
-
Hosts must promise to take good care of Satchmo. They must not lose or damage the toy. I’m not sure what I’d do if you lose Satchmo but just DONT. Hehehe.
-
Each ‘host’ will have a max of one week to keep Satchmo. During that time, host must take photos of local scenes with Satchmo in the picture. Take as many photos of Satchmo as you can and send them to me right away so we can post them.
-
Host must have a digital camera, an active email address and a yahoo messenger.
-
Upon arrival of the toy, Host must take a photo of Satchmo and send it to me so that we can be sure that the package arrived safely. Hehehe.
-
It will be the responsibility of the host to send Satchmo to the next host after his/her week. This means that he or she must shoulder all shipping/delivery expenses (sosyala a! hahahaha).
-
If you want to be a host, email me at [leylander@yahoo.com.ph]. I will email back and ask for important details so that I could set Satchmo’s schedule.
-
Add [leylander@yahoo.com.ph] to your Yahoo! Messenger so that you will be able to coordinate/communicate wit hme.
-
For more suggestions, please leave them as comments here. Thanks, all!

Are you using SLR cam already? I think I saw a pic of you using one.
I just remembering coming across one of your posts about the camera you were using to take the earlier photos of your blog. So when I put up for sale my 10 megapixel cam which I recently purchased, I thought of leaving you this message. I’m selling it coz I can’t maximize the camera for now…you know how I feel…sayangan ko ma-stambay lang. My shots are bad! If you’re interested about the cam, you can check my site. Thanks.

It’s not that i don’t trust the hosts.i’m sure every bisdak here and abroad are looking for the welfare of Satchmo. I for one would want to see the pictures of the tour.
But what if force majeure strikes? Or a hijacker happens to be on board the same plane taken by Satchmo? Or in a worst case scenario, some pilferers at the airport takes fancy of the little icon.
Would it not be a good idea to get Satchmo insured?

I would love to take Satchmo on a tour of Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, the Circle City. See the 500 Mile racetrack, help paddle my canoe, walk around the Monument Circle. I am positive Satch will enjoy his time in Indy.
We are currently visiting relatives in Cebu and are staying at Paradise Village. If Satchmo needs a ride to the midwest of USA I will be happy to bring him back with me when we return April 8th. We are going thru HNK, LA and Chicago, but those will only ne the airports.
Otherwise, I sent this same msg to your e-mail with my home addy.

Hi Ley,
*bow* for mentioning me re: guidelines. Touch ko!
Kalingaw oi! Maka-world tour jud si Satch! Please confirm lang ako share sa iya travels here sa US. I’ll try my best to let Satch tour New England.
Mas lingaw ang comments sa mga tawo esp. kang billy & ofw_cebu. Gigitik uroy ko! Pero hey, what if mahitabo di ba?
@ ofw_cebu; “lisod na kung mahanginan gamay, maka langoy dyud si satchmo ug ang host”
Higti ug pisi` or colorful ribbon ang body or neck ni Satchmo para in case mahanginan dili intawon molupad or malumos. I don’t think we can call 911 or ask for a rescue search in case Satch is lost.
