Hit And Run!

Last Monday, March 10, oil tanker M/T Damar – which was on its way to Cagayan de Oro City rammed our beloved Marcelo Fernan Bridge [ironically, the topic of a previous post] and just left like nothing happened.
Although there were no visible damages to the column [Mandaue City side], the Mactan-Cebu Bridge Management Board still wants to make sure that the 8 year old bridge is sound and stable below the water line.
The board indicates that the owner of the tanker, Sea-Tech Transport Inc., will face criminal, civil, and administrative charges if it refuses to pay for the repair/exploration/inspection expenses. An inspection team will be composed of members of the coast guard, the navy, and the company which supervised the construction of the bridge.
It is said that the license of Alex Gelacio Ipanag, the captain of the vessel M/T Damar, has been suspended.
The nerve to run away just like that!
