Nanginhas sa Oslob

At four pm, the water started to go down and the seaweeds that cover the deeper parts of the beach started to become visible. Mom decided to head out to the hunasan to see if she could find some lukot. I decided to tag along and boy, was I thankful! It was an amazing experience. I’d love to do it again!

When the tide is low, the seas come alive.

The beautiful residents of the Oslobanon seas

Starfish and white sands

Right after me, mom and the gang went down on the beach, other out-of-towners came in hordes to see what the fuzz was all about (we were too noisy because we are an ingorant bunch. LOL). When, the beach was totally dry, there were probably more than thirty people scouring the beach with us. Hahaha.

View of the beach and the Oslob mountains.

I don’t know what this is. hehehe

Starfish nation!!!

I think they call this balat.

This dude is called a donsol. Donsols are one of those creatures that evade predators by squirting this dark-colored ink so they can scoot right away (see video below). Donsols produce the lukot that we were looking for. (Read: it’s their solid waste. eekkk!).

Mom found some lukot.

How a donsol protects itself.

Dad found this strange-looking shelled-dude. I think it’s a hermit crab.

One of the tentacles of a really strange creature.

The famous tuyom or sea orchin. It has orange and blue eyes.

It’s not really clear but those 6 brown things in the water are actually very small sea horses. Wow! They’re really awesome!

This dude is a kind of sea cucumber locally called bat hanginan. When it gets exposed to air, it ejects this white sticky substance. I don’t know why. (See video below)

You have to be careful, now! Some areas are just tuyom territory. So it means, back off!. =)

A species of tuyom with not-so sharp needles.

A clam!

I think this is called an anemone. I think. =)

This jellyfish was stuck in a huge rock. Poor thing.

This school of fish - locally known as a duot - gets stuck in very shallow water. Wow! I’ve never seen so many fish together before.
