My college friends called me up for a small get-together. Having absoluely nothing to do on a Friday night, I eagerly said yes. The plan was to hit Sunflower City at 11 and just party ’til three.
Sunflower City is a dance club in Lahug (right across the IT park) in The Hangar. It is situated right beside the Metrosports Gym and Kasadja Dance Club. The place is a bit steep, though. Entrance fee is Php 150 and food prices range from Php 40 (a plate of rice. hahaha) to more than Php5,000 (a bottle of drink). A bottle of beer is around Php90.
It is said that the club is built to cater to the Korean market which is already like 2:1 here in Cebu City. So, it is normal to see some Korean chicks dancing wildly or some Korean guys dancing half-naked.

The huge huge sign in front of the club building.

The crowd getting pumped up!

At 11 pm, the night is still young.

The surrounding tables weren’t occupied until past midnight.

Nice table lamp. hehehe. But we broke it. Shhh.. LOL

Nine-panel monitor.

A short break for a little slow number.

Then its back to dancin’.

Dance all you want!

Two-seaters….

Koreans leaving at around 3 am.

Thanks guys! Sa uulitin!

I have been there! It was awesome, very far from what we have here in Cagayan de Oro.!
I think Sunflower has the family club atmosphere. It is too formal to be considered as a club. A club should be packed, hot, and no young or old alike. Clubs like PUMP, AUTOSHOP are no surprises to the busy, compressed, skin-to-skin dancing sections that really shows how chaos can be tamed by the hip-hop / gangster rap music which dj’s do live mixes. Think about it, just because the place is huge and the dance floor is wide doesn’t mean it’s nice. We dance and then the music gets hotter….and then OOPS! The showbands sing again…there is no continuous flow. It stops when the beat starts busying and song starts jamming! How they segregate and sectionalized the two parts is plain irritating. You want a real club….go to where the chaos starts. Remember…if its too loud your too old! Sunflower a club? Comeon…..for Koreans…probably.
